Iain works primarily in acrylics and acrylic inks but also dabbles in oil paints, pencil, ink and digital colouring. He has been nominated for a 2020 Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist.

He divides his creative time between Worldcon promotional art and fan art (for Doctor Who and other Science Fiction and Fantasy). You can buy his art in his Etsy shop, and t-shirts, mugs etc. on Redbubble. If there’s a print you’d like to buy that isn’t currently on offer please just ask through Etsy or via the contact details below.

For Dublin 2019: An Irish Worldcon he created the cover art for the Souvenir Book and Pocket Guide plus artwork for badges, adverts, groats (volunteer payment vouchers), several progress reports and the ‘Slices’ t-shirt. He was a panel member at LonCon 2014 and Dublin 2019 and is currently working on the Glasgow in 2024 Worldcon bid.

Iain was a finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist 2020 and a nominee for the European Science Fiction Society 2020 Hall Of Fame Award. His painting “Shipbuilding Over The Clyde” has been shortlisted for the BSFA Award 2020.

He’s been interviewed by Dublin 2019 here, and by fellow artist (and fellow parent) Gemma Beynon here.

He has contributed cover art for some of the Professor Howe parody books, raising money for BBC Children in Need. In the past he has reviewed TV and film for Strange Horizons

He fits painting around work, and the capricious whims of his young daughters. And a three-legged cat.

Iain is also available for commissions. He tweets a lot at @iainjclark.
