Acrylic painting on 250 gsm art paper.

A Selkie swimming near Fastnet Rock off the south of Ireland.
A selkie is traditionally a seal that sheds its fur to become a woman on land. I inverted the idea here, with the seal inside the symbolic shape of a woman crafted from the ocean swell. I wanted vivid, almost acidic ocean colour for the foreground.
The map is as accurate as I could make it! The map texture was achieved with a rough sponge to mottle the background with various colours, and the same technique for the detritus in the ocean.
This artwork was used in one of the progress reports, and was exhibited in the Art Show at Dublin 2019.
