A Selkie image I did for Dublin 2019: An Irish Worldcon. Acrylics on 250gsm paper, with just a sprinkling of sea salt…
In Irish and Scottish folklore, Selkie are mythological beings who change from seal to human by shedding their skin. However I settled on a mermaid-esque version for this depiction, but with a distinctively seal-like tail.
(The sea salt was used to create some of the foam and bubbles in the painting, although others were done by hand.)
This image was used on a pin badge for Dublin 2019, as well as in Progress Reports.
