Sole Survivor

In the centre, the Ninth Doctor's face in profile, painted in shades of blue, gazes into white space. Contained behind him are warm orange scenes from the Time War: Gallifrey under attack, the ruined city with its smashed dome, Daleks shooting, the Moment...

Acrylic on cold-pressed watercolour paper.

Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor in Doctor Who.

I’ve always been fascinated by the interpretation of the Ninth Doctor as suffering PTSD after the events of the Time War.  Events which at the time were implied but which have since been fleshed out and partly depicted on-screen.  I thought it might be interesting to close that loop and illustrate his inter turmoil a little.
